TestNow Cancellations & Swaps ("we", "us") operates the website at testnowcancellationsandswaps.co.uk. We're an independent service that helps UK learner drivers find each other to swap DVSA practical driving test dates. We are not affiliated with the DVSA or gov.uk.
The data controller is TestNow UK, a trading name of RDS HUB LTD (a company registered in England & Wales). As an online service we operate without a public postal address; please contact us by email at info@testnowcancellationsandswaps.co.uk for any privacy matter.
What we collect
When you list a swap, we collect what you enter in the form: your name, email, phone number, your current test region, centre, date and time, your preferred region and centre, and any notes.
If you consent, we detect your approximate region from your IP address (city/region level only) to show tests near you first. We don't store your IP address or precise location. We use a small cookie to remember your consent choice and region preference.
If you're matched with another learner, we open a private chat between you. The messages you send in that chat are stored by us so the conversation works and so we can look into any problem or report of misuse. Phone numbers and email addresses are automatically removed from chat messages before they're stored.
Why we use it
We use your listing details to match you with another learner and to contact you about a possible swap. Our legal basis is your consent (given when you submit the form) and our legitimate interest in running the service.
We use approximate location and cookies only with your consent, to show nearby tests first. You can decline and the site still works.
Who we share it with
We share your details only with a potential swap match, and only as needed to arrange a swap. We never sell your data. The actual swap happens through the DVSA's own booking system — we never access your DVSA account.
If you accept advertising cookies, Google receives a signal that someone who clicked one of our ads went on to list a test. That signal is tied to an advertising cookie, not to your name, email or phone number — we never pass those to an advertiser. See the Cookies section below.
If you tell us you'd like help finding a driving instructor and tick the consent box, we share your name, phone number and email address with one driving instructor so they can contact you about your test. Instructors pay us a fee for this introduction. We only do this when you have explicitly agreed, and each request is only ever passed to one instructor.
We use the following providers, who process data under their own privacy terms: Google (Google Sheets and Google Apps Script) to store listings and chat messages; Google Ads for advertising measurement, if you accept cookies; Twilio to send you a text message when a swap match is found, and to alert instructors to a new request; and ipwho.is to estimate your approximate region from your IP address, if you accept.
How long we keep it
We keep your listing while it's active and for up to 6 months afterwards, then delete it. Previous versions of a listing (for example, if you update your details) are archived for up to 3 months, then deleted.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Email info@testnowcancellationsandswaps.co.uk to do any of these. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We use two cookies of our own: a consent cookie to remember the choice you made on the banner, and a region cookie to remember your area. Neither is used for advertising.
We also advertise on Google. If you accept on the cookie banner, Google sets advertising cookies (such as _gcl_au, and cookies on doubleclick.net) that let us measure how many people who clicked one of our ads went on to list a test. This is cross-site advertising measurement carried out by Google as an independent controller, under Google's own privacy terms.
If you decline, or if you haven't chosen yet, we instruct Google not to store or use advertising cookies. We use Google Consent Mode, so these cookies are not set unless and until you accept. You can clear all of these in your browser at any time, and you can change your mind by clearing our consent cookie and reloading the page.
Children
This service is for people booked for a UK driving test. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this notice. The "last updated" date shows when it last changed.
